The Aprilaire® Whole House Dehumidifier Model 1870 removes up to 130 pints of moisture per day – that’s over 16 gallons – and provides dehumidification for homes up to 7,400 square feet. Designed for whole-home dehumidification, the Aprilaire 1870 Dehumidifier automatically extracts the right amount of humidity from your home and prevent problems caused by too much moisture. Using a dehumidifier will help you reduce allergens in your home by preventing mold and mildew growth, and by minimizing dust mite populations that thrive in humid environments.
Installed as part of your home’s heating and cooling system, Aprilaire central dehumidifiers pull air from every room in your home through the return ducts. Just like your air conditioner is designed to control temperature, a dehumidifier is what you need for humidity control to maintain comfortable, healthy conditions in your home. The Aprilaire dehumdifier works in conjunction with your air conditioner to efficiently balance the humidity, but it can also work independently on days when you don’t need the air conditioner, to remove the ideal amount of moisture for comfort.

How Dehumidification Works
A powerful blower inside the Aprilaire dehumidifier draws air into the cabinet, the dehumidifier filters the air and removes moisture. When incoming air passes over an evaporator coil in the dehumidifier to drop the air temperature below the dew point of the air. Moisture is removed from the air and drained out of the unit to a common floor or waste drain. The air is then reheated in the condenser coil and exits the unit. Dehumidification occurs until the set point is reached, then shuts off until the sensor determines a need for operation.
The Aprilaire 1870 Whole House 130 pint dehumidifier has on-board digital controls to set the dehumidifier to your desired humidity level, Aprilaire unit’s humidistat has automatic humidity sensing for efficient and effective removal of excess humidity in your home. The 1870 unit also includes auto defrost control that will turn off the compressor and run the blower until the coils are defrosted to protect the unit from damage in cool conditions. Plus, the unit has a washable air filter removes allergens such as mold spores and dust particles while ensuring efficient operation.
The 130-pint Aprilaire 1870 the perfect dehumidifier for whole-home dehumidification for use in basements and sealed attics.
